2.5 Respect for Local Laws and Regulations
Special attention should be paid to the following situations.
2.5.1 Parking Fines
In practice, most infringements of local law concern the parking regulations. Illegal parking carries a parking fine of a fixed amount. In Finland, issuing a parking fine is considered exercise of administrative jurisdiction.
Central Helsinki is divided into three parking zones and a parking fee is normally charged in these areas from Monday to Friday. In zone 1 parking is usually subject to a charge also on Saturdays. The chargeable parking hours are marked on the ticket machines and parking meters.
