Recent employment and entrepreneurship studies
Työpoliittinen aikakauskirja 1/2017
The report is based on studies, statistical data regarding self-employment and sharing econ- omy, a survey aimed at self-employed, expert interviews and a workshop. The report brings together proposals from self-employed people for the development of public services and leg- islation. In addition, it presents recommenda- tions for the development of employment and business services in the future.
The ndings of the report show that new forms of self-employment challenge the con- cepts of traditional working life and existing leg- islation in many respects, particularly regard- ing social and unemployment bene ts for the self-employed. The number of users of invoic- ing services has increased in recent years and a signi cant proportion of self-employed peo- ple intend to use them also in the future. At the moment only a few self-employed people use digital matching platforms, but they are seen as having signi cant growth potential for the future. From the perspective of employment and business services it is critical that emerging entrepreneurial activities related to the sharing and platform economies can be supported, and that this kind of activity can be indenti ed as a new form of entrepreneurship and employment.
