The future contents of the Finnish Labour Review is open for discussion, but the role of human factor in work and the economy remains our interest in the coming years, as well. Our article describes a parallel thesis comparing the idea of a city and the concept of a workplace. We propose that the elemental centralization of productivity in urban areas correlates with the idea of a city on a macro level. Therefore a single workplace should absorb and interpret the uni-versal elements of the idea of a city to the prac-tices and culture of a micro level workplace. The comparison suggests that Finnish workplaces are indeed moving towards a city-like dynamic and character, but slowly and mainly intuitively. Finally we are comparing the ideas of a city pre-sented by Lewis Mumford, LeCorbusier and Jane Jacobs in terms of paternalism, organized com-plexity, design and social engineering.How to reach employment targets during an era of breakage in the labour marketMartti Hetemäki, Dr. Pol Sc. Employment rate among persons having only the minimum compulsory education was 43 per cent in 2015, whereas among persons with a master´s degree it was 86 per cent. However, education by itself will not solve the Finnish unemployment problem.
