deteriorate. Employees now have more oppor- tunities to learn and participate in developing the activities at the workplace. New technology and the working methods enabled by it are part of the daily routines at workplaces.
At the same time, many work at a fast pace and according to tight schedules. The possibil- ities to influence one’s pace of work, work tasks and the division of work have not increased. Discrimination, bullying and violence are still encountered at workplaces. They have been observed by a minority of employees, but the trends are stable and reveal that a lot still needs to be done to eradicate discrimination and har- assment.
Transparency and equal treatment have developed positively, and employees feel that they are respected in their work community. Many report, however, that duties are une- qually distributed and that there is too much work compared to the number of employees. Most employees find their work to be mentally taxing to some degree. One in three employ- ees find their work also physically straining. Nevertheless, nine in ten employees assess that they their ability to work is good in relation to the mental or physical requirements of their work.
The data used in the Working Life Barometer 2017 is based on 1,693 telephone surveys con- ducted by Statistics Finland during August and September. The data can reliably be generalised to apply to employees everywhere in Finland and in all sectors.
The aim of the study is to investigate the sit- uation of the Finnish service market from the point of view of future growth services, as well as the opportunities for service providers to offer new kinds of service concepts. The aim is to study the opportunities and abilities of vari- ous to act as providers of future growth services.
The main discovery of the study is that aware- ness of the content of the growth service reform and its possibilities is poor among the service providers. There are uncertainties related to the procurement of services in the counties and the creation of markets, which makes it difficult to identify markets and business opportunities.
Service providers are interested in the growth service market. While there is great interest in growth services, there is relatively little knowl- edge of growth services and the opportunities they create. A survey of potential growth ser- vice providers shows a very positive image of the willingness and ability of potential growth service providers to operate in the future growth service market
From the business perspective of service providers, growth services are not a single, unified market; so far, they are a fragmented mosaic of different kinds of customer needs and services as well as business opportunities. Incentive models and an incentive price are key elements and drivers in creating new business and a growth service market. From the point of view of creating a future growth service market, it is essential to identify the principles for the elements the incentive-based model and service pricing should consist of.
