9 MISCELLANEOUS
9.1 Acquisition and Sale of Real Property
Missions and members of missions do not need a consent from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs for acquisition or sale of real property in Finland.
As regards the purchase or sale of real property, the missions are kindly requested to contact the National Land Survey of Finland (Maanmittauslaitos) prior to the purchase or sale of real property concerning the authorization of the sending state for the signing of the deed of purchase by the mission. The e-mail address of centralised customer service of the NLS is customerservice@nls.fi
After the completion of the purchase, the sending state (the mission) needs to apply for a registration of title to property within six months of the signing of the deed.
As regards exemption from taxes please note Chapter 3 (Real Property Tax, Sales Profits and Transfer Tax).
9.2 Elections
Missions may arrange polls freely for their citizens in Finland. Requests for security measures at the polling stations may be addressed directly to the local police or through the Protocol Services. This should be done well in advance of the date of the election.
9.3 Diplomatic Parking Places in Helsinki
Missions may be granted a diplomatic parking place for two cars in one location on request. The parking place is meant primarily for the use of the Head of mission and incoming visitors whose vehicles have CD registration plates. Diplomatic parking places are assigned to a mission even if this is not specified on the sign.
The National Land Survey provides information on the registration procedure from Monday to Friday 9–16.15 on number 029 530 1110. More information is also available on the web site of the NLS at http://www.maanmittauslaitos.fi/en
