The study analyses the background and rea- sons for migration and estimates its e ects on regional economies. The study shows that
more rapid concentration of the population than expected may limit the growth potential of regions experiencing net out ows. However, concentration of population also results in con- centration of services, which decreases work- force commitment to providing public services in particular.
This study examines the e ect on the economy of anticipated change trends in the vocational structure. Based on the literature, changes in the vocational structure have occurred relatively slo- wly in past decades. By contrast, major changes have been predicted to occur in many vocations in the future. In this study, the change trends in the vocational structure are examined from the premise that the change will a ect the structure of the demand for labour across sectors, which may have an e ect on the productivity of work. A key result of this study is that the e ects of the adjustment of supply, when allowed by the labour market, on the vocational structure will remain relatively minor at the level of the larger vocational groups.
